Hydraulic excavator- BE1800D
Surface mining technology is predominantly used in India and loading shovels are the most important machine for the production. Diesel engine powered hydraulic excavators are popularly used in the mines due to their versatility and ability to handle tough job conditions. Recent tenders from Coal companies were also seeking for the 10~12 cu.m bucket capacity diesel engine driven excavators, which are of imported origin at present. To meet the customers’ requirement and give boost to self reliance in mining machinery sector, BEML has taken up the project, “Design and Development of Diesel engine driven Hydraulic Excavator” and successfully completed the same. BE1800D is manufactured with more than 90 per cent indigenous content and is truly ‘Make in India’ product. State-of-the-art on board machine health diagnostic system was developed for the machine with modern digital display and data storage.
Prior to the development above equipment, BE1800E – electrical version of the excavator was developed and supplied to Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) on trial-cum sales basis has successfully completed the trials.
AC drive electric dump truck- BH150E
BH150E is powered by 1875 horsepower Cummins engine and features GE – AC drive technology with payload capacity of 150 US ton. It is the first electrical dump truck designed and developed by BEML that is capable of running at maximum speed of 64kmph. This truck offers many advantages when compared to mechanical drive trucks viz. improved cycle time due to higher speed and grade ability, fewer components replacement delivering lower maintenance and higher availability and reduced wear on the primary braking system due to electrical retarding. State-of-the-art truck also features diagnostics tool that consolidates truck diagnostic information to speed up troubleshooting and reduce downtime. Equipped with dashboard mounted AC, high-end operator seat and tiltable telescopic steering column this truck guarantees maximum comfort to the operator with better ergonomics. Subsequent to development of above model, BH205E- electric dump truck of 205US Ton payload capacity with gross engine hp of 2300 was also developed. Both the above models are awaiting trials.
Crawler dozer- BD475-1
BD475-1 dozer is the biggest crawler dozer with 850 FHP engine, designed and developed indigenously through in-house R&D. This dozer is required by customers for their mega mines and the requirement had been met with imports. Presently, higher capacity bull dozers are being supplied to Indian markets which are very expensive both in terms of initial capital investment as well as running maintenance cost resulting in foreign currency outgo. This giant dozer weighing 100 tonnes is configured with a semi-U blade of 25.6 cu.m and single shank giant ripper. It is powered by a 30 litre electronic engine meeting EPA Tier-I emission norms, delivering 850 FHP at 2000 rpm. This dozer features 3F- 3R planetary power shift transmission and torque converter with lockup clutch for excellent fuel efficiency. Modular power train enables improved durability, maintainability and serviceability. Pivot shaft and pinned equaliser bar improve track frame alignment and enhance undercarriage life. AVM’s (Anti-Vibration Mounts) used for engine and powertrain ensures longer life and reduced noise and vibration level in the operator’s cabin. Automatic transmission with on-off solenoid control valves and electronic control for steering and brake. Acoustically improved cabin and perforated engine side covers to lower the noise level inside the cabin. Productivity depends on the dozing distance, operator efficiency and operating conditions.
