Export and domestic sales
Mitsubishi is equally selling in export and domestic markets and has established group companies in USA, Europe, Middle East, Singapore, among other countries that cover customers around the globe. Therefore, it is as good as having local presence every where. They have pulse of their native market – know demographics & understand local customer needs very well; also available in closer proximity for quick service support.

Big on off-road exports
The company is into almost every off-road segment in exports, and most of its Indian OEMs – especially tractors – sell their machines in exports too. The company’s expertise and readiness to meet global emission standards is the key.

“We can guide our Indian OEMs on global emission norms and prepare ourselves well in advance to meet their requirements. Such joint effort really helps us grow our presence in both ways – direct sale to export and reaching export markets through our Indian customers,” says Kawamoto.

Major influencing factors
Quality and the advantage of having factory in India helpthe company offer quality engines at competitive price. Equally, the compactness that comes up with robust design is the key differentiator. It ensures customers are happy not just for tough performance, also for the long life of engines. There are still more reasons like less vibration, less noise, ease of maintenance, optimum power and torque at desired speed and so on.

Challenges and opportunities
Macro-economic conditions are good. Especially in India, both tractor and construction equipment volumes are continuously growing year-on-year. Government policy reformations, focus on infra sector development and good rainfall are the major drivers for the growth. Conditions in export markets are also in favour of the company – mainly developed countries like USA and Europe region, since Mitsubishi Diesel engines are ready to meet the advanced norms that will be effective from 2020.

Features such as telematics and fleet management tool will start playing a crucial role towards mobility.
