Pennar Engineered Building Systems Ltd has built a large warehouse for GMR Projects at Shamshabad International Airport Hyderabad (RGIA). This warehouse was constructed as per the specifications and a drawing provided by Amazon India and the building is meant for fulfilment centre of Amazon India. Amazon India planned for fulfilment centres across India in all the metropolitan cities and this is the first and largest one built by Pennar which stands high as an iconic project within the Hyderabad international airport.
The area of the building is 36,400 sq.mtrs (approx. 4 lakh sq.ft). The length of the building is 285.65 metres, width is 129.27 metres and clear height is 14.5 metres. The total steel consumed in this project is 2,160 MT. The company commenced the execution of the project in first week of Oct 2016 and completed by 28th Feb 2017. Pennar got excellent safety record in this project without any loss of time.
The salient features of this project used were horizontal profile wall-sheeting (0.6 mm thick) and Double-Lok standing seam roof-sheeting without any end laps. The roof is suitable for installing solar panels as required by Amazon India. Glass wool insulation (50 mm thick, 24kg density and WMP facing) with suitable weld-mesh was installed in roof and slab type Glass wool insulation (50 mm thick, 32 kg density and WMP facing) was installed in walls.
Both GMR and Amazon India are extremely happy with the execution of the project in terms of timelines and quality. The facility consists of fully air-conditioned environment with ASRS Godrej racking system. The centre will enable sellers to use local infrastructure, save capital and help them grow their businesses. The centre will work closely with local communities; create numerous skilling and employment opportunities for thousands of youth in Telangana state.
