Rajen Khoda, Director of Sales South Asia & the Middle East, Powerscreen gives an insight to the Crushing & Screening Industry in India.
Powerscreen is an expert in the design and manufacture of mobile crushing, screening and washing equipment. Please brief us on the recent Trend in the Crushing & Screening Industry in India.
We are very pleased to be building equipment in India at a time when the country is investing substantially in infrastructure development to help ensure the economic well-being of its citizens. Mobile crushing and screening equipment plays a basic, yet vital, role in building infrastructure. We are ready to assist both government projects and commercial ventures with the right equipment carrying the Powerscreen name built by Indian workers and sold through an enhanced distribution network.
We have been in the market for nearly a decade now and have found that price isn’t the sole driver. The equipment should offer the customer value for money in terms of reliability, efficiency, continuing support, availability of spare parts and re-sale prices. We are confident that these attributes will position us ever more strongly in the Indian market place.
What trend will shape industry evolution in the coming years?
We see the market for mobile machines in all market segments growing at the expense of less flexible options such as static/wheeled installations. The range of tracked machines is specifically designed to take advantage of this anticipated shift, as indeed has happened throughout other parts of the world. India is one of the major strategic markets for Terex and the company plans to continue to invest to grow its presence there.
Today Powerscreen is an established name in this sector. What is your opinion about the growth potential for the industry in the domestic and export market?
India is following the trend we have seen in other markets of favouring tracked crushing and screening machinery to those that are static / wheeled. There is, of course, a period of education and change, but it is evident from our growth that tracked crushers and screens are the way forward for India.
What are the key issues and challenges being faced by your company?
Some of the key challenges for Powerscreen are:
• To meet customer demand for Powerscreen equipment
• Increasing our Dealer Network where we don’t have presence currently both in India and neighbouring countries
• Continued excellent customer support through our dealer network which includes training of our dealer staff and ensuring parts availability nearest to customers.
What are the steps to be initiated by industry players in grabbing maximum opportunities?
Powerscreen’s experience worldwide demonstrates that first class customer support and service must be a key objective for anyone in the industry wanting to maximize opportunities.
